Dope man. Been a while, eh?

Love they synth sounds @1:09
...that sound midway through @1:50
Slippery, slide-y, bouncy.

PompYin responds:

LLAAPPSSEE! Long long time! What are you up to these days? Are you still producing?

Coming back to review this as I didn't get a chance to during judging and simply slapped it with a spicy 10.

Love the found-sound ambience. The subtlety to all the instruments used. The quality sound you got out of virtual orchestral instruments impressed me most. I've used EWQLOS in the past (mainly for my Farsky OST) -- it's very nice. I don't think I'd ever be able to work it like this though. I couldn't really find much to nitpick. It was mixed well and honestly has a very professional feeling. The emotive crescendo is quite nice. I don't know what it is, but it reminds me of something... Like back when I first ever played World of Warcraft as a night-elf rouge. Back in the first year WoW released. Ha!

It was magical/mythical feeling.

It had a certain nostalgic vibe for me. I could totally hear this used for a movie or game or something.
I'm generally not all that moved by orchestral stuff -- as I find a lot of it to be quite generic feeling/boring//etc. -- I have my exceptions though.

2:03-2:10's melody feels very familiar to me.

anthonyragus responds:

Thank you so much, Lapse. Working with those old samples requires a lot of mixing and automation. The nostalgia in that moment could be related to a few things: the trills in the upper woodwinds, the ascending thirds in the violins, the gong roll. All of the melodies seem familiar to me, but I'm not sure from where, which I suppose adds to the mythical sensation. I appreciate your thoughts.

Dig the ticking clock feel @ 1:34. <3
They keys are beautiful.

RiSUKU responds:

Thank you, didn't think that it would sound like a ticking clock though! :D

The under-watery 2:17 - 2:46 <3<3<3

Love the sound. Very playful and rhythmically fun. Lots of little flourish-y elements. Reminds me of something that'd be in a a lighthearted JRGP moment (FF9<3) or something.

I've love to hear this performed live. :O

1:49-1:56 that little bit-crushed touch! <3
Into what appears to be a guiro or someone opening a bag of "sound-snacks" only to tug too hard and, trip over themselves and hit the crash <3.

Sidesticks <3.

If I had to ding something in this it might be the general sound of the strings. I can get over that though as it brings me back to the carefree days of playing JRPG's with wonderful OST's using midi instrumentations a lot of the time. So I'm a bit less sensitive to that I guess.

I'd love to hear you explore this style more. Although your last round entry was also *chefskiss*.

LordAndiso responds:

Thank you so much :DDDDDDD

I love making this sorta stuff. I feel very free when making this. But yeah I am afraid of pirating stuff that's why I sacrificed the sound of the strings, I got no better alternative lol
I wish you a good day :)

I'm not usually into vox...
I really dig the lyrics.
Catchy lyrical melodies as well.
Catchy chorus.
I replayed it a handful of times now.

Maybe I'm overly-critical but I'm not sure how I feel about the vocal-stressing/note dipping of certain words in verse 2. It's not toooooo bad, but I'd kinda like to hear it unstressed and smoother like in the first verse. It doesn't seem to fit the rest of the piece. That said...I do like you trying to add variation.

Vatriox responds:

Thank you for your feedback! I kinda noticed that myself haha! I actually re-recorded the verse a handful of times until I got something I was okay with, totally get that you pointed it out lmao

xkatttt responds:

Glad you enjoyed! :)

Celeste vibesies. I dig it a lot.

While I like the lead @ 1:23 I think it's just a biiiit too loud and piercing - mostly when more than one note layers. I'd pull it back a bit, perhaps, or even just lower the volume of consecutive notes.

Other than that it's solid. I'd be looking forward to the game and it's OST.

Lunziestella responds:

Thank you, I felt it was a bit piercing but thanks for the clarification will change :P

Nice. The melancholic feel, particularly in the first 45 seconds or so, is giving me some "Hollow Knight" vibes. I can dig that. Love the ending.

JesseTikka responds:

Thanks so much!

Hell yaaaaaaasss. Like the use of the Think Break here.

JarJarZoinks responds:

Love the toms.
Something about this melody feels very familiar. Like hanging out on the beach with a nice blanket.

JA4Y responds:

I love using toms so much so im glad u also appreciate them. also yea I really went for a very nostalgic feel so im glad u picked up on that.

Mutant from the primordial ooze, busking on the streets of the internet. I will be forgotten by time. A temporary fascination. Use me up. I am yours. Help me feel useful...
